Cod in sour cream - general principles of preparation

Do not buy severely frozen cod for cooking.

To prevent the fish from turning out dry, you do not need to overcook it in the oven.

If you fry fish, keep it on the fire for no more than 10 minutes.

To ensure juicy fish, marinate it before cooking.

Cooking fish is not at all difficult, especially if you remember a few rules.

Before cooking, dry the fillet well with a towel or napkin to allow excess water to drain.

Otherwise, during baking, the liquid will be released from the fish, the fish will become dry (and the cod is not very juicy anyway), and besides, it will not be baked, but will turn out boiled.

Place the fillet in a hot oven so that a small crust quickly forms on top. Then the natural juices will remain inside and the fish will be juicy.

Cheese should never be poured onto the very top of the dish. The cheese is always placed first, and mayonnaise, sour cream or other topping is placed on top. Only then will the finished dish have a baked, but not dry, melted cheese crust.

When cooking fish such as cod, it is best to first fry the vegetables in oil and add them along with the fat.

And most importantly, it is better to buy the fillet not frozen, but chilled, it contains less liquid, and when baked the fish will turn out golden brown, but juicy.

Ideally, of course, it is best to separate the fillets from the bones yourself. There are few bones in cod, and this process is not complicated; it is enough to separate the meat from the ribs and spine.

By following these simple secrets, you can deliciously cook cod fillet in the oven, or prepare a juicy, original and very tasty dish from any other fish. Don't be intimidated by fish day. Cod, although a rather dry fish, is at the same time very meaty, its fillet is large, not flat.

Cod in foil in the oven: tricks and useful tips

To make cod in foil in the oven more juicy, you can marinate it in water before cooking, diluting a little vinegar in it, and if you also want to reduce the smell of fish, then it is better to use apple, wine, or simply flavored vinegar. However, you can also moisten the carcass or fillet with lemon juice.

Fish aged for half an hour in natural yoghurt or sour cream with 10% fat content, mixed with herbs or chopped garlic cloves, turns out to be very tasty.

It's good to serve the fish with sauce. You can garnish with potatoes or rice. You can also stew vegetables.

You don’t have to add wine to the envelope if the dish is intended for children, but make a sauce from it and serve it separately. To do this, you need to slightly evaporate the wine by pouring it into a frying pan and adding chopped olives and grated nuts (walnuts or pistachios).

A lot of dishes can be prepared from fish such as cod, which is why it is very popular.

Cod has a wonderful taste and is easy to prepare.

In addition, cod meat is considered a low-calorie dish. And for those who watch their shape, this is a real delicacy. This fish contains a large amount of macroelements, protein, vitamins and amino acids. It is rich in microelements and saturated fatty acids.

This fish can be baked, stewed or fried.

It goes well with vegetables, sauces and seafood, but in particular cod is truly tasty only with sour cream.

When cooked with sour cream, you will get incredibly appetizing and juicy cod. And if you add mustard or herbs to the sour cream, you will simply not be able to tear yourself away from the dish.

Cod in sour cream - general principles of preparation

Do not buy severely frozen cod for cooking.

If you bought frozen cod fillets, let them thaw at room temperature.

To reduce the salt and bitterness of cod, soak it in water or milk before cooking.

To prevent the fish from turning out dry, you do not need to overcook it in the oven.

If you fry fish, keep it on the fire for no more than 10 minutes.

Its only drawback is that cod meat is a little dry, so it is recommended to cook or serve cod with sauce. Sour cream is the simplest and most affordable product that goes well with cod, making it juicier and fattier, and the cheese crust prevents the evaporation of moisture and retains the juice formed during the baking process. The result is a healthy and tasty cod dish.
